Clinic Companion

Clinic Companion

Windows, Xbox

Clinic Companion – Clinic Companion is a software application that allows users to do physical therapy utilizing the computer. This software uses Windows Kinect to capture 3-D body movements and offers daily routines for users to exercise. The data is sent straight to the doctor or hospital files so your doctor can analyze the patient data and see the progress.

The challenge of this project was creating a gesture-based user experience and recreating natural movements. The UI is all gesture-based, but at the same time, we maintain using the regular hardware controller like the keyboard or the mouse. Not only was I able to create a natural experience, I managed to create a wow effect in patients all the time. They feel like they’re in control and very futuristic.

For this user experience I use all the Kinect principals: voice recognition, gestures and hardware. Any user between ages of 8 to 70 can easily control the software and follow the exercises without the doctor in the room.
